Teach your Kids Pottery Making

Next have them stick a finger or thumb into the middle of their ball to make an indentation, creating the middle of their pot. Have them pinch around the sides of the pot to widen the middle section and have them press down on the bottom of the pot so it stands up straight. Once the clay has dried or been fired, allow them to paint a decorative design on their pottery.
Teach your Kids Pottery Making by having them make a coil pot. Have children roll clay into long
“snakes”. Let the children make coils with the snakes, placing one on top of each other. After the pots are the desired height and width, allow children to smooth out the edges with their thumbs and have them attach a flat bottom to their pots. Allow pots to air dry or place them in a kiln, depending on the type of clay used and let children finish their pottery creations by having them paint or glaze their finished products.
